Pointers: A3 Series, B Series, C Series, D Series, and E Series

Pointers

“A3” Series Hand Pointer:

This machine is for roll pointing preparation of wire and tube prior to the drawing process. The machine is shipped complete and ready for customer mounting to any appropriate shelf, table, or onto existing equipment.

Features:

A pair of matched, grooved rolls rotate together in opposite directions. The material is held against the appropriate groove and the handle is rotated through a 90 degree approximate sweep, thus drawing the material into the pointer. The handle is then rotated in the opposite direction until the material comes free. The material is then rotated 90 degrees and rolled again in the same groove. This process is repeated, going from groove to groove, until the material will pass through the drawing die. Under normal drawing practices, pointing is accomplished by working the material in one to three grooves.

Manufactured of hardened tool steel, the rolls are 2.500 inch diameter and are precision ground. The rolls are manufactured with nineteen (19) grooves on the A3.

Precision steel assembly featuring adjustable roll supporting roller bearings and quality tooling type construction.

A3 Maximum starting size is .1875 diameter and the smallest groove will roll a .018 diameter point. The pointer will point material from copper and aluminum to high carbon steel wire.

“B” Series Pointers:

This is a machine for power roll point preparation of rods and tube for the drawing process. The machine is shipped complete and ready for connection to your electrical supply. It is floor standing and finished in overall appearance.

Features:

A pair of matched, grooved rolls rotate together in opposite directions. Rotation is such that the material, when inserted into the grooves will be returned to the operator. Viewing the grooves while they rotate would leave one with the impression of an opening and closing iris with a definite open transition/closed transition/ open cycle. The material is inserted during the open cycle and as the groove closes it roll forms the end down to an elongated, smaller diameter end of predetermined size. Multiple grooves allow staging from rods to fine wire with the limits being the number and size of grooves and process material metallurgical character.

Manufactured of hardened tool steel, the rolls are precision ground and available in the following sizes:

Maximum permissible sizes for alloy ranges or types are generally stated as:

Low Carbon Steel......................... .312" Max.
Alloy & High Carbon Steel.......... .250" Max.
Aluminum, Copper, Soft Metals.... .375" Max.

These permissible sizes and ranges are simply examples, not limitations. Please contact our sales office today to find out how we can help create a pointer to fit your needs.

A 3 horsepower T.E.F.C., A.C. motor direct couples to a worm gear reducer which direct drives the rolls. The rolls are back geared using quality hardened steel spur gears.

Precision steel assembly featuring adjustable roll supporting roller bearing, alloy shafts and quality, screwed and doweled tooling type construction.

Fabricated steel with finished overall appearance, the frame is for floor mounting and places the pointer works at convenient operator height.

Included are an across the line starter, heavy duty "momentary" foot switch and necessary wiring from the starter to the motor and switch. Wiring complies with JIC and NEC codes. Control voltage is 115V A.C. and, unless otherwise specified, the machine will be wired for 460 volts, 3 phase, 60 hertz A.C. supply and will have Allen Bradley components. Options include alternate voltages, starter manufacturers, circuit breakers or disconnects and other features.

“C” Series Pointers:

This is a machine for power roll point preparation of rods for wire drawing. The machine is shipped complete and ready for connection to your electrical supply. It is floor standing and finished in overall appearance.

Features:

A pair of matched, grooved rolls rotates together in opposite directions. Rotation is such that the material, when inserted into the grooves, will be returned to the operator. Viewing the grooves while they rotate would leave one with the impression of an opening and closing iris with a definite open transition/closed transition/open cycle. The material is inserted during the open cycle and, as the groove closes it roll forms the end down to an elongated, smaller diameter end of pre determined size.

Low Carbon Steel......................... .500" Max.
Alloy & High Carbon Steel........... .375" Max.
Aluminum, Copper, Soft Metals.... .500" Max.

These permissible sizes and ranges are simply examples, not limitations. Please contact our sales office today to find out how we can help create a pointer to fit your needs.

A 5 horsepower TEFC, A.C. motor direct couples to a worm gear reducer which direct drives the rolls. The rolls are back geared using quality hardened steel spur gears.

“D” Series Pointers:

This is a machine for power roll point preparation of rods and tubes for the drawing process. The machine is shipped complete and ready for connection to your electrical supply. It is floor-standing and finished in overall appearance.

Features:

One or Two pair of matched, grooved rolls is used. The rolls rotate in opposite directions. Rotation is such that the material, when inserted into the grooves, will be returned to the operator. Viewing the grooved rolls while they rotate would leave one with the impression of an opening and closing iris with a definite open transition-close transition-open cycle. Low Carbon Steel......................... .500" Max.
Alloy & High Carbon Steel........... .375" Max.
Aluminum, Copper, Soft Metals.... .500" Max.

Each roll head is driven by its own 10 horsepower, TEFC, A.C. motor, which direct drives each roll head worm gear reducer and, in turn, direct drives the rolls. Each set of rolls is back-geared, using quality hardened steel spur gears.

A precision steel assembly featuring adjustable roll supporting roller bearings, alloy shafts and quality screwed and doweled tooling type construction.

Fabricated steel with drive service doors and finished overall appearance, the frame is floor-standing and places both roll heads at convenient operator height.

Included are an across-the-line starter, two motor overload devices, a heavy duty oil tight pushbutton station and necessary wiring for all. All wiring complies with JIC and NEC codes and control voltage is 115V A.C. Unless otherwise specified the machine will be wired for 380 volts, 3 phase, 60 hertz A.C. supply and will have Allen-Bradley or equivalent components.
